Consumer Customer Privacy and How It Affects You
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
At Citizens State Bank, protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information is important to our employees and to us. We value your Business and the trust you put in Citizens State Bank. To offer you the financial products and services you seek, we collect, maintain, and use information about you on a routine basis. To help you better understand how your personal information is protected here at Citizens State Bank, we are providing you with the following statement describing our practices and policies with respect to the privacy of customer information. In the event you terminate your customer relationship with us, or become an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the policies and practices described in this notice.
THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
As a trusted financial institution, we collect, retain, and use nonpublic personal information about individual customers, allowed by law, to provide products and services to our customers. "Nonpublic personal information" means financial information that relates specifically to you and that is not available from a public source (such as government records, phone books, or widely distributed media). For example, the fact that you have a deposit account with us, and the balance of that account is nonpublic personal information. In contrast, the fact that you have a mortgage loan with us would not be nonpublic personal information if your loan is secured by property that is located in any county or state where mortgage loans are recorded in government records. We may collect nonpublic personal information from such sources as:
· applications;
· information about your transactions with us, or others;
· information we receive from a consumer reporting agency; and
· information from persons you authorize us to contact in reviewing your
applications or transactions with us;
· internet cookies (www.csbfl.net).
We collect and maintain various types of information about our customers, including:
· identifying information, such as social security numbers, driver's license numbers,
account numbers, names, addresses, personal identification numbers (PINs) and
passwords;
· information regarding your creditworthiness and capacity, such as employment
status, income, and information on your assets and liabilities that you provide to
us in your applications;
· account activity information, such as deposit and loan balances and transaction
histories;
· information about your transactions and experiences with us, such as your
payment or overdraft history.
THE INFORMATION WE SHARE
We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about you, current or former customers, to anyone, except as permitted under law.
WHO RECEIVES THE INFORMATION AND WHY
We may exchange such information with certain nonaffiliated third parties (under limited circumstances) to the extent permissible under law to service your account, offer you products or services we believe you may find valuable, report to credit bureaus, manage risk, and other financial services related activities.
Use of information within the Bank. Citizens State Bank will use your nonpublic personal information for the following purposes:
· to protect the security of your accounts and loans with us. For example, we will
use your personal identification numbers and passwords to prevent unauthorized
persons from accessing your accounts or account information;
· to conduct our business in a prudent and safe manner. For example, we will use
the information that you provide us on your applications to review your
application.
· to provide you offers for products and services that we believe you might be
interested in.
Disclosure to Nonaffiliated Third Parties. We may disclose information about you, including nonpublic personal information, to nonaffiliated third parties as described below.
Disclosure to service providers. We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that provide financial services for us, such as ATM providers, printing companies, check printers, and loan processors or servicers. We require that these service providers maintain the confidentiality of your information and that they use the information only for the purposes for which we have provided it.
Disclosure for legal requirements. We may use all of the information we collect, as described above, to satisfy legal requirements. For example, we will use your social security number for income tax reporting purposes. We also will share your nonpublic personal information with government agencies and legitimate investigators as required or allowed by law, including an order to comply with applicable government reporting or legal process (such as court orders, subpoenas, or government requests) which we reasonably believe to be valid or required.
Disclosure to consumer reporting (credit reporting) agencies. We may disclose information relating to our transactions or experiences with you to consumer reporting agencies and similar organizations.
Disclosure with your consent. We may disclose the information that we collect, as described above, with any person when you have provided your written consent for us to do so, including when you give someone a power of attorney or other authorization to act on your behalf.
Disclosure to joint applicants, guarantors, and joint accountholders. We may disclose information about your loans or accounts with us, and your transactions or payments with respect to such loans or accounts, to persons who jointly own such accounts or who are your co-borrowers or guarantors. We also may disclose information concerning your credit history to persons who are co-applicants with you, but only if we find it necessary to decline your application or to later take an adverse action with respect to your loan or account.
Account numbers. In no event will we share your account numbers, PINs, or similar access codes to third parties for any purposes without your authorization.
HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
We understand that the protection of your nonpublic personal information is of the utmost importance. Guarding your privacy is our obligation. Citizens State Bank maintains strict procedures and policies to safeguard your privacy. We restrict employee access to customer information only to those who have a business reason to know such information, and we educate our employees about the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy.
